15" WOT DD from Coiltek

JCJEXPLORER

New member
Anybody used this monster with the E-TRAC? Local guy has one (new)for $225.00 includes lower shaft. Any thoughts on the best large coil to use? Thanks in advance.

I used one for the explorer SE and never really had much use for it. If you can find a site that is very clean (without nails/iron everywhere), it is a good deep coil. But the amount of masking on a trashy site would definitely not be worth it. You would probably never see its depth capabilities because you could not see anything beneath the mask. I have never beach hunted, but I hear that is where the WOT coil shines.

I got a WOT for my SE for its larger coverage area while hunting on the beach. The VERY first time I had it out for testing, I found a platinum ring which paid for the coil and a whole lot more. It found a whole lot of other goodies in the sand all summer. Next spring it's gonna be on my E-Trac and back on the beach! I've never used it on land but I would expect I would have to back way off on the SENSITIVITY to separate targets. With that said, I wouldn't use any other coil for beach detecting. I highly recommend it.

I used mine with my Explorer II for years. Worked Great. When I used it on my E-Trac I was disappointed. For some reason the E-Trac was less stable and way too much noise.

I've used one for years and really enjoy it. I find it more valuable than a small coil when it comes to getting the older coins. It definitely will pick up coins at depth that the stock coil could not reach in many instances. My stock coil has a electrical short and I've been alternating between the WOT and ML 8 for the last couple years and I have not missed the stock coil. Just to let you know, you should really get an X-1 probe if you don't have one already if you get the WOT, because it is more difficult to pinpoint with and you will be getting deeper coins and coins on edge.
