157 Year Old Dime

[Louisiana Ken]

Some pictures of the last few hunts at that circa 1820's house. I seem to always find pull tabs in the areas where I thought were personally cleared out by me. This always motivates me because if I missed a pull tab there's a good chance I missed something good also. Sure enough, in an area I've been over many times and after finding a pull tab, I pulled out a holed 1854 dime from New Orleans. It was face up and approximately 3 - 4 inches down. The ETrac read 12-41 and I'm scratching my head on how I missed this EASY one in the past. Anyways, I also found a small silver/silver alloy tea spoon, a Mississippi tax token, a Harry S. Truman token, a 1911 "V" nickel which I attempted to clean w/ Ketchup, wheat pennies, clad, and other old junk. I'll get back with you all if I find something else good.

That's a beautiful dime. It would be much better without the hole. Very good find anyway. I've never found anything old in LA.

I was told holes were punched through dimes/half dimes and then secured to your clothing so that there was a less chance to lose them and/or tied to your clothing for good luck.
