15x12 vs 12x10

Besides the weight difference what differences have you guys seen between the two coils. I know the larger coil goes deeper and all but I've dug coins at 11-12 inches with the stock coil. I've heard the SEF are much more stable in trashier conditions etc. Just wanted your opinions between the two.

The husband has the large coil, works well for him, he is over 6 feet tall
This past weekend we were at an old park and he called me over
NO JOKE
Almost 3 feet and surely over 2 feet was the Quarter...CLAD

If I had not seen the depth I would not have believed it

The bigger the coil the bigger the coverage area. Bigger coils MAY, notice the MAY part, be less sensitive on smaller objects.

So other than the extra depth and the possibility of being less sensitive on smaller targets one usually performs just as well as the other then. I may try the 12x10 before I go to the 15x12. I don't want to have to go to the gym before i can handle that coil on an all day hunt haha.

I know this sounds weird but the 15x12 coil is lighter than the 6x8 coil..No Joke!

I've not got the 12x15 for the eTrac yet but have had one for the T2 and GPX. Both of them weighed the same so I assume the eTrac one does too. Weight was a little over 1 lb...not bad at all for the size. I'm trying to decide whether to get the 12x15 SEF or try one of the larger NEL coils.

I have had the 15x12 for over 2 years and have used it maybe a 2 dozen times. It is heavy and hurts after awhile!! But.... It does cover more ground and does go a little deeper IMO than the stock coil. It is a nice coil to have in the arsenal for those times when you need it. If you don't have a smaller coil, I would get that first because I find it more valuable than a larger one when compared to the stock. At least for me, trashier sites are more common than large fields with deep targets. Just my opinion of course!

I agree. If you are hunting not so trashy fields or pastures then get a big coil, if not go with a smaller one first. the 8x6 SEF hits coins just as deep as the stock.

I'll be getting both the smaller and the larger coil at the same time. I have a buddy up north that wants to sell his 12x10 so I'm going that route and getting the 8x6 from Kellyco.

those are the 2 that I have also. Both are great coils, so is the pro coil.
