didnt get out as much as i thought i would this summer but i feel fortunate. cant believe i found a 1785 connecticut copper around here! never found a large cent until this year, and now i got 5. this is also my first seated dime (its a little roasted but...). these are just a few of my favorites from the last month or so. the first two large cents are an 1847 and 1830. the other two are "no dates". thanks for looking.

For not getting out too much...you sure dug up some very nice coins. Just skipped all the "less than 100 yrs old/new stuff" and went right for the OLD!!!!! Great pictures and congratulations on your first seated (you and NICKA can celebrate together)! Is that an iron arrowhead???

Thanks,

NebTrac

nah...that arrowhead i found layin' in a bunch of nails by my grandpaps barn! i could use an expert on that ct copper i swear i see 1785 on the date but it could be 1787 ? the letters around the sitting lady dont match up to thet coins they show on the web page i found, but cant remember the name of..... and yes i can be as dumb as i sound!

[size=large]Based on the blue book of coins you have a 1787 bust left coin. the head is too tall for the baby head 1786, the only two with the woman posing that way. i can't make out any words or letters. the arm and head and spear match the 1787. hope this helps some.

Oustanding find - great job ! :clapping:

Very nice finds for not having the time. The closest I've come too a hundred years old is my leaf rake.

i have to admit that a couple of my finds were on accident... but i put alot of time into researching old maps, comparing them to satalite images, and also giveing a lot of thought to the history of the area. ive gotten most of these coins (and alot of other junk) out in the woods nearby celler holes and some old coal mine spoil piles. i wouldnt have even considered hunting these places 2 years ago. if you want to find 100+ year old coins, you have to find places from 100 years ago. i think ive spent more time hunting for them than hunting at them. i also ask around and talk to some of the "old-timers" about where things were. im amazed by how much things have changed over the years. best of luck to eveyone -mike

Thanks Mike for sharing, winter is approaching fast here in Mi. and I plan on doing alot of research. HH
