1787 FUGIO CENT

CONDUCTOR7E

New member
I think that I found my best coin find ever today.I was metal detecting an old house site here in New Hampshire and had found a handfull of buttons.I saw this one path that looked promising,so I hit it and got a deep copper reading.I knew it was a copper,so I called my buddy over and he filmed the dig. From about 7-8'' came a coin that I have never seen before.I didn't realize it until I got home and looked at my red book did I realize what it was.It turns out that it is a 1787 FUGIO CENT with a readable date.I will post pics and the vid as soon as I get them from my buddy.I am psyched!!!!!!!!

Jason you the man for sure. You have a bunch of old coins I can't believe you didn't know what it was great find. Mines a 86

Wow - every now and then you can find something like when you hunt in the places you do. Prolly won't find many of those in the park

Now that has some serious history considering it was one of the very first authorized coins of the USA

Your right I misspoke its an 87 but which version I don't know.My Fugio is up on top center in the picture.

No,you the man Todd.If I remember correctly you are the one that got me hooked on this machine called an E-Trac? Actually it is called a Fugio copper, not a cent.Sorry for my misprint. This was found at an old house site here in NH way off deep in the woods so it was definately not a park find.Took me nearly an hour to get there by ATV! Well worth the trip.Found my 1785 Nova Constellatio about a half mile from this site. There are lots of goodies up here!

Yeah, rub it in. Seriously awesomely nice find. Hopefully I can atleast score a large cent here soon. Still looking!!

Awesome find Conductor. Looking forward to the pictures!!

1787 - WOW - that's really cool !!! :beers:

I hope to find any 1700's dated coin in the future but - I think the odds of finding one here in Ohio are a little lower than in the New England States.

Great old coin Jason - keep on digging !

Any time that you break the 1800's on a copper coin and can see details - that's an awesome find.
Congratulations - you have so much great potential there in NH and you have surely put in the effort to go get the goods.
I applaud you.
