Stopped on my way to work today at a field that the town just cut the bushes and hay. This was the first thing I dug. It looks to be a 1787 Geogivs/Britannia half penny can read the word Britan on the left side and there is a star on the shield.

Do you have a scanner? You find some cool old stuff and it would be great to see scans of many of these. I scan my stuff at 600 - 1200 dpi cropped. 720 is a fine size.

Good job on the coin.

Wow!..Nice find...Congrats!..

My fourth copper this year. and the shape of them is getting a little better but not much.I keep dreaming that I will find a Granby copper someday but until then I'm just having fun.GR

Thanks Erik,
Ya I tried scanning it but it is so dark that it just comes out as a dark dot. It's not in the best shape. The date is only half there.87 is the only readable part.I have it soaking in olive oil and it seems to be getting better but I don't think it's going to improve much more.GR

I'm going to hit it hard in the next day or so.I saw another guy out around the old cellar hole and I stopped to talk to him.He found a large cent a some artifacts.GR
