Got this 1798 large cent on the first of feb. reverse is in great shape but the front was almost smooth just barely got the date , farm field , ULSTER CO. NY
 
Nice find..are you going to post any pics of it once you get it cleaned up?? I am interested in seeing what it looks like.

Got in a tilled field so wasn't very deep maybe 5-6 inches , coin-jewlery mode , low-trash , 16 on the sencing , rang in at a solid 37. (-:
 
Wow that's a really old coin..was there a house in the past that used to be in the general area of where you found the coin?
