My assignment was cancelled last night which gave me 24 hours to do what I wanted to do and yes,I hit a nice old cellar hole.My first signal was the lovely 12-46 with the beautifull tone to match.Up came what turned out to be a somewhat toasted 1844 Braided hair LC.The rest of today went as follows,2 Indians in the same hole,(1900 & 1906),5 early buttons, what appears to be a silver plated suspender clip,2 smaller buckles and some fancy looking brass whatzit? No clue what it is,but it looks cool. The other buckles and buttons were from the past week where I had gone out for a few hours at a time.Man this stuff adds up!Loving the hobby!!!!!!!
Thanks for reading.

Nice stuff you got there. I love hunting old cellar holes like that. The thing in the middle of your first pic....is that a gear or a colonial button? If it is a button, very interesting. I have not seen one like that before. HH, Dan

Nice finds!

Wow, you really find the goods! Very nice assortment of finds. Congratulations! Do you have to do much research to find places to hunt or are they just abundant around your neck of the woods? I guess I'm just curious about how you go about choosing your next hunting site. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent hunt Jason! Thanks for the pictures and the story of your nice finds.

Thanks guys for the cool comments! Dan,the gear looking thing is a colonial era flat button.I've never seen one like that either. There is a LARGE abundance of cellar holes here in Southwest NH.Very few were occupied later than 1860 for some reason.Maybee the California Gold rush or something? Most are located in deep dense growth with some sites having been abandoned for nearly 2 centuries.Definately requires an ATV.At one site, all I found for coins were 6 coppers,(4-1787 Connecticuts,a King George III and a 1785 Nova Constellatio). Definately, very thankfull for this cool location and sites.

If anybody here on this forum is the New Hampshire region for a bit,I will have NO problem taking you boys out for a cellar hole adventure.Just PM me beforehand.
