1861 SKIRMISH SITE

Still working the 1861 skirmish site. Have yet to locate camp. Some areas are in crops and can't be checked until fall. Was able to make a few nice finds this week. 2 union cuff buttons, a .58 minie & a couple of unknowns. One item may be a broken J hook although it has a double button & I have only seen them with one button??? The other unknown is an iron loop with a large tapered square spike???

This would have been a skirmish between the Union & Missouri State Guard so odd things show up on the pro-southern side do to no official CSA issued items.

Any ideas on the unknowns would be appreciated.

Guys on the Civil War Forum think the iron ring with spike is a Picket Pin that is broken or rusted off. I do believe they are right. Attached is a photo of a Confederate Picket Pin dug in Virginia.
