Had a post over on the Etrac forum trying to figure out a button I found Tuesday. I thought it was a civilian button so I didn't post it here.
It ended up being a cast Infantry button from the war of 1812.
Most Missouri State Guard units had no official uniform so they wore civilian clothing or uniforms from past wars.
