1873 semi key indian and more

hunted all weekend with G4E i managed to get 3 Indians a 1873 1866 and 1 smooth Indian. also found a heel plate a us postal lock and peace off a old carriage to hold the rains i was told and a sonoco token HH
 
Badjim I found that same lock about ten years ago. Was told by a locksmith I showed it to that it was a military lock. Can you tell me if it is for sure a postal lock have never found a photo of it looking under postal or military lock search on google. Also do you know a date or era on it Believe he called it a "wares" lock. Nice hunt all around!!
 
I told Jim it was a postal lock because I dug the same lock about a yr ago and that it what i was told.....so...no promises on the ID for 100% sure. Only going by what someone told me mine was
 
Great finds !

I found a similar Heel Plate last season - I was told it's a "Hearts In The Sand" type of heel plate that was worn by prostitutes - someone new in town would look for the heart pattern in the dirt - follow the tracks and meet the woman - you can read more by doing a Google search - a real piece of history - congrats !
 
Great looking Indians and old lock! That's a neat story behind the heel plate. Way to go on some nice finds :thumbup:
