What a great day! I just posted a sliver ring I found this morning at a soccer field. This afternoon I was at a house where I had previously found two large cents (1798 and 1810). I hit a strong signal that kept jumping around. No wonder -- there was an 1892 Barber dime and an 1892 Indian Head penny in the same hole! I just ran them under water, but the black coating of the penny is coming off. Can someone tell me: Is the blackish part the actual surface of the penny, or is the green part underneath?
