1909 Lincoln penny

shepned

New member
Dug a 1909 Lincoln penny with no mint mark today. It is in very poor condition with really only the date visible. Lots of blue green corrosion. Along with it I dug a 26 gram sterling silver spoon, a 1942 nickel with no P stamped on it, and 3 other wheaties 1948, 1951d, and1945. I have detected this site before with my M6 and not found much of anything. Must have been the rain last night. I will try to post some pictures tomorrow. I have found that my M6 signals really bounce around and you have to dig anything that is close to the number. It will show zinc and I dig and find a wheatie, must be the soil content.

Thanks
Ned

Nice! Can't wait to see a pic.

A good place to return to many times. Early spring would be the best just after the ground thaws.

Nice find Ned, I get eye strain trying to find the S on them. If you have a VDB on the lower reverse, it would be worth a little more.

Way to go Ned!!!! Congrats on your finds. Love seeing any nickels coming out of the ground these days. HH, Nancy
