I tried to post the link to the story but didn't get it right then tried to cancel this post but didn't get it right. I'm seeing a trend here. Hope the rest of the day goes better! The story was of a MIA Soldier from WW2 who's B17 was shot down over Austria. The Soldier always carried the 1916 Dime for luck. The dime was recently located in a crash site and has been returned to the family. It's the only thing of his that has been found in over 70 years to help locate him.
[size=large]i'm wondering how they knew whos' dime it was. did they also find i.d., tags or something? would seem to be more to the story. would you find out more, please.
The plane was laden with bombs when it went down 2 of the crew members parachuted out and the rest rode it to the ground. At least one of the young soldiers family members was on site when the dime was found. The only other things found were small parts of the plane. This soldier was known to carry a 1916 dime in his pocket everywhere for luck. I suppose it was assumed that it belonged to him. Sorry once again about my lack of computer skills. Mike
