Ha ha ha ....I think my subject line is pretty funny because I doubt if it would peak anyone's interest...however...it's kind of special for me.
Before yesterday, my silver coin count for the year was at 96. I was so close to 100 .... I was just itching to try and get to 100 just for kicks. Trust me...I'm super content with the 96.
We have been getting hammered with snow so December 30th was out for detecting because I was concerned about the road conditions. I woke up yesterday morning to even more snow ... but by about noon... it stopped. There was about 5 or 6 inches and I thought "why not?". It was 18 degrees outside but felt like 10 so I layered up and got my equipment together and headed out. I just want to feel like I gave it my best shot.
I started detecting and my gosh the snow was so heavy but I knew I had a chance because the coil was on the ground not on top of the snow. At times, it was so heavy, I was using both hands to swing the Etrac. I was getting pretty hopeful for a chance at silver as I found 4 wheaties....I was determined to get at least one silver. Then...as Rob and I always say when we find silver "Booyah"!! A 1956 Rosie. He was my 97th and last silver coin for my 2013 metal detecting year. I didn't make it to 100 but as I said..super content with this past year.
2013 Silver Coins In Review:
2 - Walker halves
2 - Barber quarters
1 - SLQ
1 - Canadian quarter
2 - War nickels
The rest were a mixture of barber dimes, mercs, rosies, and Washington quarters
I don't have Rob's count but he had a phenomenal year in quality finds. Spanish reale, gorgeous 1828 large cent, 2 cent piece, and amazing silver coin spills!! We're a great team...and honestly....he is the best guide ever...if it wasn't for him...my silver coin count wouldn't be what it was.
Happy New Year and may 2014 be another fun-filled and exciting detecting season for EVERYONE!!
