1958 Chevy

Kelley I Stopped at Price Chopper today and when I came out to leave this beauty was parked across from me . A really nice 1958 Chevy I think .

To me, I have always liked the 1958 Chevrolet, and it is a real classic in my opinion, Thanks for posting the pictures. :clapping: Kelley (Texas) :)

1958 was the first year of the Impala, and they are some nice looking cars. Particularly the convertables
with the continental kits, etc.. The 55-56-57's were nice. but 58 was the beginning of the lower wide look
as far as GM. You could always tell the Impalas from the Bel Air and Biscaynes. They had the dual triple
tail lights instead of dual dual tailights. And more trim, etc.. And that continued well into the 60's and 70's.
My first car was a 1965 Impala sports sedan with the 396. My dad bought it new off the showroom floor,
and I ended up driving it a few years later in the 70's. The Impala sports sedan was different from the regular
Impala four door sedan in that it had no side pillars, and the upper part of the back door glass came to a
sharp point, instead of the rounded curve of the regular sedan. When you rolled all the windows down,
there was no pillar at all on the sides, which the regular sedan had a pillar about 2-3 inches wide.
With the 396, that car was faster than a scalded house cat for a large four door. :wiggle:

BTW.. that's an Impala which the OP posted.. You can't see the triple tail lights, but I can tell by the trim
that it's an Impala.

The good old days,,, I had one in 1958. It had the beefed up 348 engine (not sold to public) that chevy put on the NASCAR circuit. One just like it clocked over 160 mph at Daytona. It wasn't super fast in the quarter (108 mph) but was really getting it's second wind at that speed. LOL,,, don't get me started,,, think I'm about to cry. ;(

I had a black 348 with hurst 4 speed in 1966........... Passed everything but a gas station.. I loved it... My friends 64 stock goat ( GTO) could just beat it in 1/2 mile drag race.

Mine was a black two door sedan,,, no radio, no heat and air,, it was ready for the track. I had to add the radio and heater. It was a blast to drive. I had faster quarter milers,, a 50' Olds 88 with a Herbert 280 roller cam , 4 stromberg 97's and the complete treatment ran 114, 115 mph quarters. Got married and the fun came to a halt.
