Well, this G2 sure gave me more than I expected on my very first hunt with it. My primary detector is my E-Trac, and even though I love the E-Trac, it is not exceptional in iron. This old church pictured was hunted with my E-Trac before. The iron made it virtually impossible to hunt, so I figured this would be the perfect place to test the G2. I purchased the G2 to coin shoot in iron infested places like this, but didn't have high expectations on this particular spot, as it is in the top 2 trashiest places I have ever tried to hunt. I was able to crank the gain this incredible machine to 96 with NO EMI. I set my Discrim. to 50, and dug everything above that. About 10 minutes into the hunt, I get a corroded Indian Head penny that showed a date of 1899. This was located on the left side of the picture shown, near to the old outhouse. The vegetation prevented too much hunting on the side of the church, so I focused my attention to the front of the church, near the entryway. I got solid 2 way hit as soon as I started hunting there, and found an 1898 IH in GREAT condition. A few feet away I was able to dig a 1908 V Nickle, my 1st one ever. About 2 feet from the IH, I get another great 2 way signal. As I dig, I can see gold under a thick layer of mud/dirt. I almost passed out at this point. I had already dug my first V nickle, and gold anything at this point, and was more than sold on my G2 purchase. I went back to the place where I had a small, clear path between the church and outhouse, and get a good signal I somehow missed before, after digging a depth of 7", out came my 2nd V nickle. While no machine is perfect, this one is incredible. While Coins were not exceptionally deep, (5-7" range), they were locked on, and I suspect it could get deeper. I am looking forward to hearing it on silver.
