1st Hunt with my G2 gives me my first Gold item, and V Nickle

Well, this G2 sure gave me more than I expected on my very first hunt with it. My primary detector is my E-Trac, and even though I love the E-Trac, it is not exceptional in iron. This old church pictured was hunted with my E-Trac before. The iron made it virtually impossible to hunt, so I figured this would be the perfect place to test the G2. I purchased the G2 to coin shoot in iron infested places like this, but didn't have high expectations on this particular spot, as it is in the top 2 trashiest places I have ever tried to hunt. I was able to crank the gain this incredible machine to 96 with NO EMI. I set my Discrim. to 50, and dug everything above that. About 10 minutes into the hunt, I get a corroded Indian Head penny that showed a date of 1899. This was located on the left side of the picture shown, near to the old outhouse. The vegetation prevented too much hunting on the side of the church, so I focused my attention to the front of the church, near the entryway. I got solid 2 way hit as soon as I started hunting there, and found an 1898 IH in GREAT condition. A few feet away I was able to dig a 1908 V Nickle, my 1st one ever. About 2 feet from the IH, I get another great 2 way signal. As I dig, I can see gold under a thick layer of mud/dirt. I almost passed out at this point. I had already dug my first V nickle, and gold anything at this point, and was more than sold on my G2 purchase. I went back to the place where I had a small, clear path between the church and outhouse, and get a good signal I somehow missed before, after digging a depth of 7", out came my 2nd V nickle. While no machine is perfect, this one is incredible. While Coins were not exceptionally deep, (5-7" range), they were locked on, and I suspect it could get deeper. I am looking forward to hearing it on silver.
Thanks for looking

Congrats!!! Looks like we have another winner!!! G2 is hard to put down once you use it. I too have a Minelab that is gathering dust now..........MO

Well a bit of a slow start but once you get the hang of it
you should be OK.:please: HH Mike

Then you can try the small coil.

Thanks Mark & Mike. This sure is a dandy little machine. You guys were not kidding when you said it was HOT. It separates like a dream, that was the whole key at this place. I can't imagine with the 5" coil. It must be like a laser.

Does that mean you like it?? ha ha

Glad you did so well today. I and everyone else that has used the G2/GB Pro cant say enough about them in iron. Where is your next place you got picked out?

Next place I would like to go is an old Underground Railroad site that is my #1 iron infested site of all time. I tried a DFX, and E-Trac there, but it was just too littered. There has got to be goodies everywhere. This thing just may find them. Like I said, it separates like a dream.

First get a brush hog mower and clean up that church.

How were the IDs on the coins , i find them to be very tight.

wow! amazing! i cant wait til snow melts to get mine out some more! i knew it was a keeper but wow. you did great

keep it up.

The ID's were tight. Even though the tone is lighter with depth, the ID's were consistent. Very happy with that. I don"t know about the brush hog. The elderly woman that owns the property is very particular, but I will ask.

Hello Bill,
Yeah, she is definitely a keeper. We are getting more snow tomorrow, but had a nice 45 degree day today. Spring can't get here soon enough. You weren't kidding about this thing in iron. I am still shocked.

Congrats silverman! Looks like you are a new convert! That is a heck of a hunt!

Thanks capt.,
This is a great machine. I'm going to look at T-2's now that this made such an impression on me. This place was un-huntable until the G2 came. I love my E-Trac, but this machine makes up where the E-Trac struggles, iron.

Just wait until you get on your sedcond battery with the G2! When I first started hunted with the G2 targets were not very deep but they were good ones. I am ready to change my battery (first one) and my targets are getting deeper and deeper. You will like it when you hear the faint signals that repeat and the ID stays put especially when it is 83 and above.

Sounds good to me Tommy. Now if the weather would just cooperate, I would have this 1st battery drained in no time. This machine is a lot of fun to use.

Thanks Low-Boy. Watched you video on you tube beforehand, and it really helped. I will be equipped and ready to use the 5" by next hunt.

The G-2 will spoil you if you are not carefull but don't forget your E-Trac especially with the Sun-Ray X-5 on it in those trashy areas. I found a gold charm about 5 or 6 inchs that came in at 51 but have found some clad dimes and quarters 8 and 9 inchs. The tone really changes after 6 inchs so turn up the volume on your headphones to hear those low tones with the G-2. I have also noticed more one way signals when the target is deeper but the target is always there. Just my 2 cents. HH :teknetics::minelab:
