1st meeting

The first meeting of the Board is past, a calendar has been approved, other items need membership input. Our first regular meeting will be Jan 25th and I hope attendance is good. If you haven't been out detecting too bad, maybe the entries I place on the table will win all categories. Temps will be up next week..... lets get the competition going.

Glad to hear the first Board meeting was productive. My day was dominated with that 4 letter word....... work, sorry we didn't make it. I don't think of hunting as a competition but rather a means of relaxation for me, clearing the mind of everyday problems and enjoying nature and the fresh air and if lucky, a history leason.

See ya at the meeting.

Thanks Bill. I have found where there is competition, there is sometimes greed. Some great finds are "created" to be competitive and defeats the fun of finding or rewarding the legitimate finds of the majority of the membership. I think just about every club has a least one member like that, at least that has been my experience over the years.

I have found that when I get out to detect that my blood pressure drops immediately and I seem to breath a whole lot better. Happy new year to all.

Ned

Nice hearing from you Ned  I looks like that ice storm is going to miss us tonight. I just checked the weather page and it sounds like it is going to stay 33 degrees all night and then warm up a little tomorrow.

Larry,

While I sincerely do agree, admire, and applaud your relaxation and history sentiments, with all due respect, I think that one must be very careful when suggesting or assuming that someone has "created" a find. Most of us have had legitimate finds that others might construe as having been "created".

Have some fun hunting.

All the best.

Bill

Careful..... naw.

It sounds like you are personalizing my comment and are somewhat insulted Bill. I'm not pointing fingers here.

I think you are pretty naive if you believe that cheating doesn't go on at EVERY metal detecting club that has competitive events from club hunts to finds of the month awards.

Please don't take this as a means to do away with competitive club events, they are a part of the club and many members enjoy being competitive and that is great, just not so much for me anymore.
