2 Big Silvers = Smile on my Dial

Gday :ausflag:

Had a hunt today and it only rained twice for short periods - I hate Winter !...Crikeys it's been wet this year.
+ side is the ground is as soft as its ever going to be
90 coins in 4 hrs was my total
75x copper 1c & 2c coins (now defunct) $2.40, my four silvers consisted of : 2x big old Fllorins ( 1947 and 1961) a 1950 Rams Head Shilling and a 1960 Sixpence, 6 x old Kangaroo Pennys and 2 Half Pennys
I tried hard for a 3 Florin day but it was not meant to be ( the best I have ever done is two in a day)
Red clay mud stuck to everything made the clean up almost as long as the hunt :nopity:
Happy swinging all

awesome hunt! 4 silvers in one day is outstanding. i dont understand the denominations but i understand silver.:clapping: are your silver coins 90% like american silver?

Nice going! Looks like you made out real well. The soft ground is nice for digging, but it can make a mess of things if it's too wet (especially in clay). Thanks for posting.

Fantastic
the coins are fun and some silver too
It is good to remind us here in the USA that you are in Winter and we are in Summer
That is why we visited at our winter vacation when it was summer down under
regards and HH

thanks guys :)
Pre 1946 is 92.5% silver and from1946 -1966 is 50% silver (and I think the other 50% is nickel)
A florin was worth 2 shillings and 10 Flroins made a pound

heres a link to explain our old currnecy to anyone interested
http://noteworthy-collectibles.blogspot.com/2010/07/predecimal-currency-in-australia.html

I actually prefer hunting the old coins (the old English system of pounds and pence )which wre fazed out in 1966 when we went to decimal currency of dollars and cents
I need the modern to fund my hobby (the car I use to go places) and a little extra but love the romance and hostory of old coins and relics...the older the better
