2 cent coin in the park today

Hit up an old park that I hadn't had much luck at previously and was able to pull this 1871 2 cent coin from a really weird signal. I think there was some iron in the hole too. It's my first 2 cent piece and my oldest US coin. Thanks for looking and HH.

Thank you very much! I just learned that there were only 721,250 minted of the 1871, 2 cent piece minted so it's a fairly rare date. In it's lowest grade G-4 it would probably be worth about $25. I don't know how this one would grade. They were only minted from 1864 through 1873 so not for a very long time either. I was very surprised to find it. It's definitely in the same era as the shield nickel.

Congratulations on such a nice find, 2 cent coins are very uncommon most people you talk to have never heard of them. I found mine a few weeks ago and the friend that was hunting with me said he had never found one and he has made many fabulous finds...then last week he found one!

Nice coin ,The 2 cent piece is the first coin that has IN GOD WE TRUST on it. be careful if you try to clean it up ,mine was in bad shape and got a lot worse as I cleaned it. WTG
