For the first time, I had recently found a $1 2008 "D" John Quincy Adams coin with the Etrac and was about to give it to my daughter for "lunch money" this morning. I hadnt noticed before but it is a mis-strike. 1st time in 25yrs I've ever found a mis-strike (that I know of).
Anyone have any idea how much it might be worth besides face value?
Thank you
Aaron

Not a clue, but you better keep and see how many more show up.

Nice part of the hobby you will never run out of first finds and as far as value every detectorist has or should have a respectable coin dealer to rely on for this info.

its worth a dollar!

I have a few error coins, not a collection by any means. I have decided to start collecting errors because they are available very cheap and could be in every handfull of change. I would value it at $10 personally because that is what I would pay you for it. I would love to have it PM me and let me know. Idigid

Hello Aaron;

I,m sorry to be ignorant but where is the mis-strike? I can see what looks like a dirty ring starting at the upper right in the letter D in ADAM and going around
down to the letters PRE in president. What looks to be where another coin was touching it. Is that the mis-strike your talking about? Again sorry to be ignorant.

Jim,

No prob., Im probably just as ignorant as you regarding coin flaws, I think this is called a mis-strike, though it is some kind of flaw.

Thank you for all the comments
Aaron
