Howdy,
It was hot, muggy, and buggy, but I still ventured out to see if I could get my silver fix in for the week. Turns out I could!
I found a place that must have been a gravel parking lot at one time, but is now covered with grass/weeds. I had found a couple Wheats there a few weeks ago, but had gotten rained out and wanted to check it more thoroughly.
This time I started out with the Pro coil to cover more ground. Got a couple wheats and the first silver, then went meandering to see how far the signals ran. Target recovery was tough. First couple inches were the topsoil, then into the gravel for another 3-4 inches, then back down into dirt again. All the targets were under the gravel, so everything was 6 or more inches down. Picked up several more Wheats before getting the second silver, and then the targets started slowing down.
Had a brief ran shower, so I took that opportunity to change over to the 8x6 SEF and work through were there had been more signals and nulling. Found several more Wheats and finally the third Silver, which turned out to be a quarter.
I wasn't keeping count of the Wheats, but I ended up with 17, which tied the amount I found a couple weeks ago (if I'd known, I would have tried for one more!). The finds really slowed down for the last hour, and I was tired. The bugs had a good day too, depsite me putting on two doses of bug spray.
The Wheats were mainly 40's and 50's though, with no notables. And several have that caked on grayish gunk that doesn't like to come off.
So had a good time overall, bit sore today.
