Congratulations on reaching 200! I'll be happy if I hit 50 this year....but there's always next year. On the odd shaped wheatie. I once watched a video on making finger rings out of coins. The guy was hammering the edge of the coin as he turned it (eventually they cut out the center to make the ring), your penny looks a bit like those did. Could be that the penny was hammered on its edge all the way around. Only other hypothesis I can offer is that it was set over a hole slightly smaller than itself and hammered partially down into it with a hammer and punch. But those are just guesses.
HH and who knows...weather permitting you may just reach 250?!

the edges are perfectly smooth and the inside where it is curled up is perfect, and exact all the way around, this way not hand done, it looks like it was put inside a press or something, however it was done they lined it up perfect.

Congrads on the 200! Way to go,I got 34...a friend of mine is at 405,I need to get over my fear of rejection and do some door knockin....

Congrats on another great year Terry. With the dedication you've demonstrated, you deserve it!

One thing you mentioned that caught my attention was:

I went back to the farm I hunted this week, where I dug the 1895-S barber dime. I went across the exact same areas, Only I turned 90 degrees. I cannot BELIEVE how many coins I dug today!!!! It was better than the first day! Many were one way hits!!!! It pays to detect yards at different angles.

I agree wholeheartedly. I've gone back to places I've hunted before and am usually amazed at how much I missed on the earlier trips. And as you have done, I've even used the same detector on both trips. So many times I've read a post where someone takes their new detector to a place they've hunted before, find a bunch of coins and the new detector gets all the credit. Not only do they say how much better their new detector is. But as "proof" they show us the coins they found with the new one that they missed with the "old" one. By your using the same detector both times, simply changing the direction you approaced the site, you've proven it isn't always to the credit of the new detector. Experience and knowledge have a lot to do with success. JMHO

Again, congrats on a great year. HH Randy

Is the small circle in the stamped wheat penny the size of a dime? It may be some sort of error coin.
