2011 Spring hunt with Bob - Seated, Barber, Mercs and so on

Well as Bob said in his post, we try to hook up twice a year with each other for a week of hunting. Spring by him, Fall by me. I always have so much fun hanging with my cousin Bob, especially when we are metal detecting together. My Uncle Al (his father) taught us the Jedi ways of this hobby over 25 years ago. We would all go out together and hunt all weekend long, never leaving anything on the table when we were done. Uncle Al pounded in the fundamentals to us, just like a great coach. If I started to raise the coil off the ground on my side sweeps missing real estate, you best believe I was taught a lesson. It could have been anything from a tennis ball flying at me, to him following right behind me (where I should have kept my coil level) and digging silver to prove a point. These things stick with me and I'll never forget em. We had such a blast together, the 3 musketeers! This is the way I was taught from an early age, play hard, give it your all, and enjoy the moment while doing so. Nothing has changed except we are just older now (I would like to say wiser as well, but that might be a stretch, at least for Bob). hehehe. Just kidding cuz.

Anyway, when Bob and I get together to metal detect something amazing happens, we tend to bring out the best in other. I am sure it has to do with the above mention, but I have had some of my best silver digging days when he is around. It's hilarious; I could work a place for months alone and find average coins, having average days. But let Bob come to that same place and hunt with me, I swear we break records that day. It's like I concentrate and focus so much more and when I do that, good things tend to pop out of the ground. Same goes for Bob.

Well this trip was no different. Within a matter of minutes after Bob picking me up from the airport we were already swinging. See I've been jonsing this entire winter and haven't been able to get out cause I live in the tundra, there

Sounds like you guys had a lot of fun - sure are some great looking coins there !

Definitly one to go down in the record books! Thanks for the awesome story and the great pictures Michelob..

Awesome post cuz!!!! Thanks for painting a beautiful picture of our week with words, you were always much better at that than I am.

I had such a blast hanging out with you. Heck, I even had some fun detecting:thumbup:

I can't wait for the fall since every trip we seem to outdo the previous one, that means we are both headed for a 20+ silver week soon:yo:

Sure is fun hunting with a couple of guys that are as dedicated as I and never want to quit even when darkness sets upon us.

LOL, 3 strangers in a little country park hunting in the dark with headlamps on. I bet the locals are still talking about us:wiggle:

Why didn't we get to see the bear hug on film Bob???...

Oh yeah....wrong forum. My apologies.

I would've thoroughly enjoyed just being down there, without a detector, watching you guys hunt and finds you guys made.

I was too busy laughing to film, Here is how it went---

Mike: You are the man Ray, Im so happy.... come here I gotta give you a hug

Ray: No, that's OK, I dont need a hug

Mike: No way man, I gotta give you one (as he wraps Ray in a bear hug)

Simply priceless to watch. Filming was that last thing on my mind at the time.

Nice Finds! Congratulations!!

Ray doesn't need to see a chiropractor any more. Just point me in the direction of Seated. See all the money you can save Ray - lol

you guys had a great week I'm glad I got to hunt with you a little, see you next trip..great finds by the way..
