2011 Year end Totals for SILVER !!!!

Goes4ever

New member
At the start of the year I made a goal to dig 100 silvers. I was able to hit that goal by June 27th, so I knew this was going to be a record year for me. I ended my 4th detecting season with 226 silver coins, that is more than my first 3 years combined!!! I also found 24 additional sterling items to take me to a total of 250 silver all together.

Some of the pictures I included here are :

1. this is all my non coin silver items, thimbles, rings, etc...
2. My nicest condition Barber I have ever dug 1916
3. My one and ONLY 3 cent silver, found this summer
4. My 1916-D merc, hands down best find of the year for me
5. My 16-D after returning from being slabbed and graded VG08
6. 5 seated dimes dug this season
7. a group shot of my oldest silvers this yr
8. all 226 silvers lined up like lil soldiers....lol
9. all my silver in a nice messy pile..It just looks neat that way
10. and the final pic is all 250 silver items. This is my new desktop pic!

it has been a wonderful yr for detecting, met some new friends, hunted with lots of buddies. Some great times and memories were made this year. I doubt I will ever top this season again!!! Thanks to everyone for reading and commenting on my posts!

I'd say there is millions of silver to be found!!!!! You just got to get your coil over it, being on private property doesn't hurt either....lol

Well, I believe Goes4Ever (Terry) is searching old homesties and fields with permission (so private property).
He isn't getting these at the local main street park.

If you started knocking on doors you would find this stuff too (E-Trac or not --though the E-trac is a great machine).

Nice finds. Big congrats on the hard work!

i agree in principal with this statement.
in addendum: one could do well in private yards with
a (b.f.o) detector,however the e-trac IS a great detector.
make no mistake though, what he accomplished is really outstanding!

A super fantastic year ..............WTG Terry........... ..........Hawkeye Jim.

well I will say this, the 1st year I detected, I hunted private yards all year as well but I was using an ace 250....and I dug 12 silvers

year two, I used a minelab x-70 and dug 110 silver, BUT I was laid off and hunted 6 days a week

year 3 (last year) I had etrac and dug 102 silver, but didn't get to hunt as much because i was in school full time

year 4 (this season) I dug 226, that was MORE than the 1st three yrs combined!

Great pictures Terry! My BIGGEST Congratulations to you on ALL your finds!!!! Thanks for sharing, keeping us motivated and allowing us in on your hunts with pictures and videos! Really looks neat man!

haha, you make it sound like this was an easy feat because I hunt private property.....lol
You forgot I drive a ton of miles, with today's gas prices... stop at tons of houses where no one is home, sometimes hunt all day and lucky to get one silver or none. Trust me, this was a tough feat for me to accomplish. Just because your on private yards does NOT mean you are garanteed to find good stuff. I hunt old farms and that is one of the toughest spots you could ever hunt with all the iron. I have put in hundreds of hours this year to dig this many silver. I average 20+ hours of detecting per week......

Well you are seeing the end result of a master detectorist, lot of work, preparation, research and perseverance went into these finds and all the others he has posted. Hunting private property and old field sites is a good way of increasing your finds as I learned this year. But there are no guarantees because it is old, it is private and maybe never hunted before that you are going to find things. Besides all those things it takes a knowledge of your machine and an understanding of the E-Trac language. Following Terry's tutelage about the machine, door knocking and the rest I have tripled my silver finds this year, but more than that I have gotten a confidence that I am starting to understand my machine. Now understand there is a valid reason his handle is Goes4ever, because he is relentless in his pursuit of learning more and getting better!

Nice haul for 2011 Terry - you had a super great year. I need to start knocking on doors - I've been hunting public land 99% of the time and it's getting harder and harder to find the good stuff. All the best in 2011!

Ahhh, you just answered (and then some) what was going to be my question. You know, I wish a detector manufacturer would update a detector with "hours run" or something like that!
And LOL at "But I was laid off and hunted 6 days a week". And you wonder why it took so long to find another job! ehehe kidding

I can't wait to hit some areas I've already hit once my E-Trac arrives.

Really nice year and pics, Thx for sharing.

Wow, great season! Congrats on all your finds, That's going to make next year tough LOL I still have a few more hunts before I count out, nothing near your total but respectable for my area. Crongrats again! And good luck in 2012!
