2nd Gold ring with my Deus

Listener

Well-known member
I have been out avidly searching for nickels lately knowing gold is near them. I dug 71 last month and 3 times that in pull tabs.
No luck but continued and up to today dug 57 more nickels so far in September. I use Basic 1 factory program and usually tracking gnd balance. Most nickels at surface or particially visible usually ID at 54/55. Strangely pulltabs bent over in half or broken into also read 55. Nickels a little deeper range from 51-53 if around 4-5 inches deep will give up a 49-51. The ring today was abt 1" deep and gave 51 and at 90 degrees. I found the 1st ring back in April on my 3rd outing with the Deus, iin the same park and the depth was abt the same. It gave a 65 TID. The 1st ring is the one on the left (14k) The one found today is thinner and (10k). And on the right in the picture. It was difficult reading the engraving and I took it to a jeweler and he tested it and also could not read the engraving. They're out there by golly even if few anf far between. Always a wow and a what do u know about that when brought to light.

way to go :clapping:

Way to go on the gold!

I've found that some nickels like to ID higher in the 60s and low 70s if they are really deep, but then again some of the more corroded ones will read lower. Nickels are a funny duck sometimes but it pays to dig them as you already know!
