2nd Hunt with my E-Trac found 1/2 of a cent

I finally got to get out again with my E-Trac and I am really liking this machine. I went to where an old house was, it has been gone for 50 or 60 years. I have found a few good items there. Today I found several old items but I really like the one pictured. It is a 5 mil Oklahoma Tax Token. During the depression, tokens were given for 10Th's of a cent. If your item cost 1.00 and the tax was .025% then the cost of the item was 1.025. They did not round up or down, so you gave the clerk a dollar and 3 cents and they gave you 5 mils back (1/2 of a cent). You could use the mils just like money, can you imagine someone today trying to make change using 10ths of a cent!! I have found several 1 mils (1/10Th of a cent) but this is my first 5 mil. The 5 mils were made of brass and the 1 mils were made of aluminum. The 5 mils are not rare but it is just my 1st one. Love this E-Trac. HH Randy

Nice find! ...I find them now and again...most aren't in as good shape as your is though. Seems like all that I find are so corroded up that you can hardly read them. You located in Oklahoma? I am from Pryor..up in the N.E. corner. Just got an E-Trac myself...nothing spectacular yet....a total of 4 wheat cents my first two hunts. Still waiting on some silver...

Back then "they knew" how do math in their head. Cool find. Thanks for sharing the history on that token and the picture!
