2nd warranty claim in 2 months? Omega is sick... :stretcher:

SkiWhiz--well no FEDEX label yet. I was called personally and told by Mike Scott today that they would get me a FEDEX slip ASAP. He told me to call Hector (ext 112) and he would get me a slip, and to tell him that MIKE SCOTT called me personally and OKAY-ed it. Well I called Hector after that conversation at 2pm (12pm MST) and he said that he would email me that FEDEX slip ASAP and that I could print it off so I could send it back TODAY!~WOOHOO, or so I thought! I might be getting somewhere. Well, it is 9:45pm (7:45pm MST) and I still have NO FEDEX LABEL to print off to ship back the detector. HMMM...First Texas closes at 5:30pm MST and I still have NO label in my email.

Are these people at FTP this overworked? Seriously! If Hector needed to get approval or couldn't do it til tomorrow, then just tell me, and I would live with that answer! But again to promise to email me a prepaid label today and then fail to do that!?!?!? Come on guys! I have been in customer service for 20+ years and understand what it feels like to OVER-PROMISE yet UNDER-DELIVER! It just plain sucks. Big time. I was raised to appreciate the little things in life, and realize that life is short. But I try to mean what I say and say what I mean. I try to live according to the Golden Rule. To treat others as I wish to be treated. HMMM, well Mike said that he would send me a few t-shirts and/or Teknetics hats. That is at least trying to appease me. Right? I just want my unit to be working as good as new, the first time. Not another month or so without a detector... And yes, TEKNETICS should have done some Quality Control and made sure the detector worked properly before shipping it back to me half a**ed.

Thank you findmall and others here on this GREAT FORUM to be able to VENT! :sadwalk:

I even went as far as asking Mike Scott if I could upgrade, or pay for a T2 in the mean time, while I ship the other one back, and he said that FTP doesn't do that sort of thing. I understand. But thought I would ask, right?!?!? I just want a working metal detector! :help:

I know that there is no such thing as the perfect detector and/or perfect customer service experience, but I truly had better hopes for FTP. I have seen the quick turn around times and stuff from Whites Detectors. I don't know how this would go down if I was trying to get warranty stuff on say a Nauty, Minelab, Garrett, or other, but so far, my experience with FTP has not put a good taste in my mouth. On the other hand, I liked the Omega (at least what I can remember using it.....back in June)

All I will say is that I have been around the forums for along long time with a pretty good track record (not trying to brag and I am probably sure that what I am about to say isn't going to help me out any), but I have to say if you are not happy with the results you get bubbadirect, there is another very good T detector besides Teknetics. And the T I'm talkin about can't be bought at Cabela's or Walmart, etc and if there is ever a problem (which I highly doubt) it will be takin care of the first time. As Forest Gump said thats all I got to say about that.

Does this mean I have something against FT - No!!! I have posted on many different forums asking how the Alpha 2000 perform as I wouldn't mind try one & I have yet to get an answer. Yes the Alpha is a low cost unit, but so is the Fisher F2 and the Garrett Ace 250, but you hear alot of reviews on them, I liked the F2 but not the Ace 250 & might consider trying a Alpha if there was some feedback on it. Hey FT if you are listening send me a Alpha to test out up here in upstate N.Y. I won't hurt it any and will give it an honest review, if it tests out well I bet I can sell a bunch for ya .

bubbadirect,

I am glad that the Mr. Scott cares enough to put forth a good faith effort to get you a working detector. Hopefully this all goes away for you and him very soon. Then this thread become archived and hopefully there will be no more such postings. I own the OK8 too, I don't like reading this type of post.

and to build on what's been said already......I've bought a ton of detectors and there are a lot more than not of the manufacturers that have dropped the ball twice in a row at least once INCLUDING the two other brands some are referring to as some sort of

Well, it is 1:15EST (11:15MST) and still no FEDEX label in my email. I will call again to see what's up. Just letting everyone know how things are going.
I don't want to complain to much either, because like at a restaurant and the waiter, I don't want FTP to "spit in my food."

Ugh.

Sorry all, I am just frustrated.

Well said BuckeyeBrad, you got me rethinking my posts. I guess I was alittle harsh, I have always been one to go the extra mile for anyone I am doing anything for and it bugs me when people pay hard earned money for this and that and they don't get what they pay for, I am sure this is not the case and I bet the company & or dealer will make things right. I guess I got carried away by putting myself in bubbadirect's shoes - I have very little $$$ and not alot of free time to detect being a dairy farmer and to get a detector and have it break and have pay to ship and have wait to get it back then do it all over again might make my high blood pressure a bit higher but as said this could happen with any detector, yes even Tesoro (there I said it,lol). Steve.

BTY Still no one has given an reports on the Alpha 2000, is there anyone on the Face of the Earth that has one or had used one.

SW, believe it or not I too am extremely steeped in those....what I'll call somewhat "old school" (I wish it was "current school" too) values and principles. I'm very black/white in my thinking. BUT, and there's always that da*# "but", I've also realized that in a lot of arenas, like someone else's business, both literally and figuratively, I don't make or get to impose my values nor do I really know what is going on because I'm not walking in "those" shoes. There was a time when this drove me, and probably a lot of folks around me , CRAZY. I found out that crazy isn't all that good or healthy for anyone. Not to trivialize what some feel when they go through detector/customer service pains, but when I know it just simply happens across the board, it became pretty easy for me to relegate those sorts of things into "the small stuff" file and I don't sweat it. I just got one of the new Goldbugs and it was on hiatus for weeks at the service center. Trust me, when I have a new detector comin' I get pretty pumped and when there's a problem that delays that delivery, I might even swear under my breath a time or two. But it's nothing that a little "old school" patience won't handle, Actually I find that when I finally do get the detector and it's special in it's performance, for example like the GBse IS, it just sorta makes the whole thing sweeter. This particular instance also sets the odds of the Tek G2's being released without the same issue as virtually absolute! (shameless plug and effort to stay on topic) The glass is always at least half full. USUALLY a lot more.

The "Other T" maker used to be a bit more consistent and less chattery in their offerings, and unless they have just released a new model I am not aware of, they still haven't made a worthy, competitive Target ID model that works decent in a variety of locations because too often the Disc. mode's GB is too negative. There are other limitations, too. Yes, some models are 'OK' but they don't have any competition because most manufacturers have gone to producing virtually all models with visual Target ID.

I saw a comment and thought I had replied. I guess I didn't so here one is.

Yes, the Alpha 2000 is the low-end priced Teknetics model and ought to be compared with the Garrett Ace 150 or Tesoro Compadre or Silver

Thank you Mike & Monte, and sorry to cut in on your thread bubbadirect. Steve.

:starwars: That is too funny! No worries man! I just now (24 hours later) got the FEDEX label, after posting again here on this forum and personally sending a message to Mike Scott, asking for his help. So now I gotta send her in for repair. Please pray that FTP doesn't "spit in my food" as a waiter would do if you ticked him off too much and complained about your order...

Stay tuned! :stretcher:

bubbadirect, If a waiter spit in your food for complaining, you probably wouldn't know it. If FT "spit in your food" for so called complaining, you would know it. But, that certainly wouldn't do FT any good public relations wise. I think the only thing you have to worry about is all the extra hours your Omega will have on it for the time the factory puts in for carefully checking it out before being returned to you. However, if you get yours back before I get mine back for the repair of the pin point, I am GOING YELL, as mine was sent back last Fri....on my own dime. Just kidding, hope everything works out...actually, for both of us. :) HH jim tn

I wouldn't worry about them "spitting in your food", trying to make trouble for a company is one thing but alittle criticism once in awhile (if called for) keeps people on their toes and helps for making a good product.

sometimes posts like these are necessary to try to "get" people to do the "right thing!"
I am tired of reading about people getting "screwed" because of indifference ,and apathy!
to be blunt!..any "a&$ *ole can just "give up" and not care!..ANYBODY can do that!..sometimes it takes real
"courage" to stand up,and really give a damn to TRY to do what's right!..my two zincs!

Thank you all for the insight here. jmaryt--that is what I was trying to do. I even had to send a message to Mike Scott to see if he could help get the FedEx Label to me! jim tn---what is going on with yours and the pinpointing? Mine is acting screwy with the pinpoint showing a 22 each and every time.

Stay tuned

i believe mr. scott is attempting to right a wrong!
it is certainly in his interests to respond!...in my view his resolution is acceptable!

bubbadirrect, just out of the blue one outing, upon pin pointing, it stuck in the pin point mode. Turn it off, fire it back up and everything worked fine until pin pointing again and it would then stick. Like your's, often a number would appear and remain. I was told something under the pin point button/membrane was broken. Hope they get your's squared away properly this time. HH jim tn

Jim,

I have had mine do the sticking in PP and had to turn it off then on . Someone here suggested it might be humidity related and since here, on the Gulf Coast of Texas we have a double arm load of the stuff, I started making sure to keep the O8K in the house. So far on my short hunts (couple of hours) it has not malfunctioned. I am not sure if keeping in the house has any affect, just saying it seems to have helped.

I bought a cover for the box off of Ebay, which may or may not help with that problem but will at least keep the scratches off.

I suspect it is not humidity related. On mine, something under the pin point pad broke and it would then just squeal. HH jim tn

jim---I agree. I keep mine in the house at all times in the air conditioning when i'm not detecting. I gotta get one of them covers off of Ebay now. Maybe if I order on now, I might have it to me by the time they get done with my warranty repair. :smoke:
