4 different cellar holes found using 1800s map!

Scenario84

New member
Using an old map circa 1870 I hiked for several hours through thick growth and forest to find not one but 4 separate homestead locations. I breifly detected each one, pulling out mostly large items. I plan on going back and cleaning up in the future. My finds were: 2 different Rogers silver spoons, 1856, and 1898 based on the designs. A really unusual bulldog face, I have no idea what it is from or a time period for it. If anyone knows please help as I am really intrigued by this piece. Several latern parts, a gigantic serving spoon, several Peters and Remington shotgun shells circa 1890. I also found a bunch of nice bottles and ceramic. It was a really fun hunt and what's better is I barely scratched the surface and now I have 4 different mid 1800s home sites to detect. I'll keep posting my finds as I go!

Looks like a lot of potential there !

JMHO - but what ever you do ... bring a small coil with you when you go back !

Good Luck !

The bulldog face is really cool. The detail is amazing!

Nice job finding the sites.

Really cool finds. I'm anxious to see what else you pull out of there. I give you credit for going in the brush; the specter of ticks keeps me relegated to the short grass.

Had one of those get on my personal about three weeks ago. Worst part about it is that it bit me three or four times before settling down on the part that it liked the best. Haven't been in the woods since ....

I have a full sleeve of poison ivy right now. No ticks, but I think I'd trade if I could
