Howdy,

Saturday I waited out a day long rain and finally was able to start a hunt in earnest around 5p without getting soaked. I drove to a location farther away, because I wanted to try and escape the rain sooner, and also because my local haunts aren't yielding as much now that I've been scouring them (darn that SE!).

I found one location that seemed to have some fill, but then out popped a Merc! That got my attention, so then I did fairly tight patterns for the next couple hours. I gave up around dark, and my battery was just about run out too (I was surprised at how long the 'warning' signal kept going without actually losing power).

So after hunting from about 5p to 9p, I managed 9 Wheats and 5 silver. Used the 8x6 and just cherry picked the high tones. I did investigate one different sounding tone because it had some depth to it. That turned out to be a Springfield Transportation token (which I think is from Illinois). Good reminder to check those oddball signals at depth.

HH,

Very nice ratio of silver to copper. And a token is always a nice treat.

That's a nice amount of silver in a fairly short time out. Your wheats also came out nice. The Springfield transportation token is circa 1945-1949, according to my book on transportation tokens. HH

Nice finds DirtFlipper. Seems when you find a spot that is giving up any quantity of deepies the ratio of silver to wheats goes up a little.
That's a good thing !

Hope to see many more on your next post as well. Best of Luck and HH to you.
