Hey Mike thanks. Its a great detector for rec areas. I held off getting one because I wasn't sure about the notch, looked a bit complicated or maybe I just didn't get it. But after owning a couple Tesoros I realized, they keep it simple but effective, so I bought it. One of the best choices I've made.

I would absolutely own the Golden if it had a ground balance control. Looks like it would be a fine relic machine.

To 53Silver,
Dude, you sold more detectors for Tesoro than their own adwertisement. Tesoro should provide to you every their model for free. It will worth for them. :)

P.s. Bought Vaquero this April, inspired by your video. Now seriously considering about Golden Micromax. :)

Thanks - I'll tell you, if you have the "V" already, get this detector. You'll have every situation covered. The "V"s exceptional depth also makes it a great relic detector, and the Golden is quickly becoming my favorite for recreational areas. That notch and those tones, make it an outstanding coin / jewelry detector! Thanks again for the kind words.

Thanks for the video! It really heps me understand the notch on the Golgen! IMHO If it had a GB it would be perfect, Beale.

Great video Mike!! The price of gold will come down now with a lot more people finding gold rings ! Haha JJ but it does show what this detector is capable of, thanks , hank

I can see the Headlines now "Tesoro Golden uMax success responsible for price drop of gold". Hmmm, maybe I should have kept the Golden a secret.

Haha, yep darn you guys there goes the neighborhood, :surprised:

Mike's video makes it very clear and understandable how the notch and tone feature work on the Golden. His video has just about convinced me to send my older Golden in to have it changed to the newer updated tones. I detect a lot with the Golden without using the notch feature at all. I mainly use the tones and minimum discrimination to get more depth. I use the 'notch control knob' with the notch switch in the off position to move the 'foil sports drink cap' just where it will sound off in the iron tone range. By doing this I get a certain gobble tone between the upper foil and nickel range. That range seems to have more lost gold rings in it than any other. I'm not sure how the new tone Golden will work just using the tones to identify that particular 'gold range'.

I sure would like to see Mike team up with Rusty Henry to do some tricks and tips videos for all the Tesoro detectors. That would be fantastic!

Hey Mike looks like your notch dial is set @ 10 o'clock , I have mine set at 2 o'clock to get the nickel tone, I may be wrong just wondering, thanks hank

Another good vid Mike. That configuration you showed would rock in probably about ohhhh a hundred different spots local to me

Only other thing I would have liked to see is where the rusty beer cap fell into that line up, sound and response wise. Nevertheless excellent video as usual.

Hey buddy - Thats where I can notch out those figure 8 pull tabs and still get a good nickel sound / tone. You have new tone Golden right?

wow i'm impressed with the new golden I have to say after seeing that demo i'm very impressed love the new tones too and like somebody else said if it had a ground balance i'd have one too, but have seen a couple modded before always wondered how they worked out?

Mike,I know you are busy with the new minelab safari, but if you get a chance, can you get a wooden ruler, get on a table or on grass in the park and do a air test range,on coins,a few rings, silver ,and work the notch, show wide notch with trash items, tones etc.If you cannot do it i will try to make video. Thanks mike O:)

I was out tonight with the Outlaw a 10 x 2 coil - man that coil rocks! - But the rain cut it short, only got about 15 minutes. I'll be doing a video for the Golden tomorrow and I will include a piece on depth - no problem. The Safari - no real time for it right now, but I'll get to it - I'm addicted to Tesoro.

I was a a little apprehensive about it not having GB, but I found there's no depth loss in my area so I guess the set up is spot on. I get 6+ on a dime and 7+ on a nickel in the gound. For coin and jewelry hunting in parks and picnic areas excellent! Not too bad.

hey mike yeah thats about the same i use to get with the older one i use to have, hey great vids, if you like your vaquero you need to try a SEF coil 12 x 10 I think you might like it better deeper than before!

Sorry Bro Mike I just saw your post, I do have the new GU does this mean it needs to be adjusted, thanks Hank
