5x10 coil for the F75

I have one of these coils, but I find I don't use it a lot. Could be that I have several other smaller coils and I hunt in some pretty trashy areas. Just to be fare I don't use the 11" stock coil much either.

I have not seen a lot of post lately about this coil.

What are some of your thoughts about the use of this coil? Best thing since sliced bread or just so, so?

Ron I use the 5x10 on a F19 it seems to have a knack to pick out non ferrous items out of thick iron spots quite well and it gives you pretty good ground coverage. Now keep in mind this is me using a F19 I'm not sure how well it works on the F-75.

When I use it in DE, 3H, I get a more high tones in the 90's in trashy areas.
That sort of defeats the purpose of 3H.
I would use it for fast scanning open clean areas. Pick up the easy stuff using Delta Pitch.
I need to experiment more with other tone settings.

First Texas' 11" coil is so darn good (at least, in my soil), I don't use anything else on my F70. I haven't felt the need to try a different coil on mine after I started clicking with the 11".

88Junior, Hope you are having fun with your new F19, I don't know a lot about that machine but I am thinking it and the F44 are built somewhat weather proof. I think for what we are doing that should standard on ALL detectors. One rain drop in the right place and it is off for repairs, if there is the slightest chance of rain I carry a plastic trash bag with me.

kt, I agree with you the 11" coil is a good coil, the 11" is all that one of brothers has for his machine and he does really well with it. I had wrist surgery and was out swing with my other hand within 10 days, but going back to my right hand about all I could do was a little coil and detector sling. The 5x10 is a little on the heavy side, but with that being only 5" wide I would think it should have really good target separation.

Thanks for comments,

Actually Ron the F-19 is like a Gold Bug Pro with added features it's not weather proof but I have the neoprene cover which makes it weather proof. I am really liking this machine the more I use it. I had been using another machine that was very similar to the F-19 but it weighed over a pound more than this F-19 and I'm having trouble with tendinitis in my elbow so I had to make a change to a lighter machine. I'm beginning to think I made the right choice with this machine. It's light as a feather and gets good depth and has large VDI numbers.

Just listed the 5x10 FS or FT.

The 10x5 is now my other coil when using my F70. I mount it when ground and trash conditions allow.
I mostly use the "little football" because I am searching trashy areas a lot more. It still has a spot, but right now it's not the top dog.

I used the F70 and the standard coil at first and found small silver jewelry and a bunch of coins on my first hunt and I didn't have a hint of a clue on what I was doing at that time.
Found a beautiful gold ring on my third hunt, and continued to find more great targets even older, deeper coins as I learned it mostly in some very trashy sites.
Switched over to the big DD and spent a lot of time with it last year.
I discovered that this thing is a great multi tasker and can not only get further than my standard coil, jaw dropping depth in good soil with pretty good ID's, but by turning the sense way down I could still get all the depth needed to find 98% of the items I look for but doing this seems to fool the coil into thinking it is a small sniper and I was able to wade into extreme trash and still pluck out good targets while avoiding trash pretty easily and efficiently.
Pop top infested sites are no problem for the standard concentric but I figured out a way using the rimming technique to identify 95% of that kind of problem trash using the DD's so hunting in sites with tons of those went from a big hassle to a big pleasure.
At the beginning of this year I threw on the standard coil again because most everything was frozen, depth was not an issue but identifying and avoiding trash in a frozen wasteland was and found 3 gold rings in a 10 day span again in severe trash.
Fell back in love with that coil again after that.
Lately I have been using the small DD sniper in heavy trash and iron infested sites and once again my jaw is dropping regularly.
Surprising depths, separation and recovery speeds are still amazing like on all Fishers.

I have many coils and I use them but it seems to me that just about any coil on any Fisher unit can do the job and go beyond expectations if you spend time with them and learn to understand their secret powers.
Now there is this new one.
I don't think I really need it or have plans to get one anytime soon but probably one day and I am sure this one probably has features and abilities that go beyond mortal coils too...but mostly because they are designed to be used on Fishers.
So many great coils, so many great targets to find, so little time to find them all.
I am so glad I am a Fisher guy.

I'm using an NEL Sharpshooter (DD 9.5" x 5.5") on my F-75 and find it comparable to the stock 11" flounder bones coil.

It's smaller and easier to poke around structures (weeds, brush, trees) and it also has a slight edge for separation in trashy spots . . . but not tremendously so. May also be that I sent in my F-75 for the full-house upgrade and the detector itself is better. I like it and haven't used the stock coil since I bought it - so I guess that says something.

It makes a great coil for the coin shooting I do. More a general purpose than a specialized solution.

Charlie P, I agree I checked my air test numbers and there isn't a big difference in the sharpshooter and stock 11". You may want to try running JE over the DE processor, it looks to be deeper and JE is running high gain no matter the other settings.

The NEL Sharpshooter and the 5x10 run pretty close to the same depth and they are pretty close to the same foot print, it looks like the NEL may be a hair smaller.

So I don't see that it pays to have both of these coils, one or the other will do about the same job.
