6 silver weekend! 4 more tonight in my "spot"

Today has been my best day to date. The whole weekend was just awesome. Last night I found two silver, a Merc and a Quarter. Both were in the same 2x2 spot. Then today I go back to work the same area and I meet two of the guys from the forums also hunting the park. I don't believe in keeping a good thing secret. It isn't life or death to find all the silver in a spot by myself. I had mentioned that I was having luck in some spots at the park, these two gents came up today, and both pulled multiple silvers out of the ground! How awesome is that? Both were great guys. I didn't get a chance to hunt with them since we ended-up on opposite ends of the park. I went back over to the area I had luck with last night. Now, the weird thing is, is that I don't find anything again while it's daylight. Then as soon as it gets dark the machine starts screaming silver at me. I find 2 mercs literally side by side in the same hole, and right across from where I was last night. Then I start moving to my left a little and BAM! I hit a silver quarter. Move again and BAM! Hit another silver quarter. All the while grabbing clad dimes, quarters, pennies, and an occasional crushed can. Six silvers in a weekend? I'm an E-Trac believer now. Once you realize what to listen for you can literally say what it';s gonna be out-loud before you dig it, and almost always be right. I'm glad my two new MD buds found silvers too today. Looks like we all made out great. :)

Very nice. It's always nice to have a lit park to hunt in. The second best thing is to have a lit pond to fish in.

REALLY GREAT

Can I recommend a Head Lamp, we got ours at EMS

Makes it easier to see the SILVEEER:hot:

Bought one at Lowes. It's pretty nice. Adjusts to different angles and has 4 different light settings. The only problem is, I forget to bring it along and end up having to quit at dark. Should just put it in my bag. What does "EMS" stand for?

Sweet coins and good luck with that light pole !!!!

Well done Ron regarding your 'Dark park silver run'.

Also, your generous attitude on sharing your good luck. I'm more than sure that it will be re-payed by lady luck in the future.

I was really pleased to see how you went back to that spot and worked it well.

For the 'newbies' to the hobby, take good notice of Ron's tactics.

From now on Ron, I think we may nick-name you as 'The Sundowner' !!!!!!!!!

Hope you don't mind if I tag a piece of my earlier post on Jan 29 2012 in which I offered the advice to any new detectorists joining the forum...It's highlighted below.

Regarding your observations about the apparent improvement in finds rate during the darker evening period, invoke intriguing speculations.

Improved concentration?........Less solar background radiation?..........Less local emi?........Food for though.

Many years ago, when metal detecting was in its infancy and there were few operators around, I thoroughly enjoyed detecting the local beach at the midnight hour.

It was Soooo peaceful on a late summers evening.. Didn't even use a scoop or shovel......just kicked the sand asside.......memories.

Whichever you choose,

.................................try standing still once-in-a-while, and THOROUGHLY....I mean VERILY thoroughly, scan the 360 degrees

arc of territory about your last good target recovery, and maybe you will realise just what you miss by detecting in haste.

Best wishes, from TheMarshall...and my dear old horse, Kilo-Hertz.

Went back over the same ground a 3rd time and pulled two more Quarters today. This time I didn't have to wait for it to get dark. :)
