7"concentric

I got a signal in dry beach sand that ended up to be about a 12" deep object.
Turned out to be a rusty crown cap. TID was in coin range.
Depth varies on type of soil or the amount of trash interference.

Your question is very subjective to each individual situation I think.

Maybe I will test both coils some day on something Deep in a natural setting.
