If you're over a clean (metal-free) patc of ground, and you press Pinpoint at maybe 8" and lower the coil and the audio increases, then you have a positive GB setting. That's okay as a negative GB, where the audio diminishes and/or goes silent when the coil is lowered, can cause some falsing.
