99 Year Old Dime

Louisiana Ken

New member
Went back out to that circa 1820's house last night and found another old dime. It's a 1902 barber dime from Philadelphia. Just like the last one, I found this in an area I searched many times. It read 12-44 on the ETrac and was face up approximately 4 inches down. Another EASY one I missed somehow. I'm using TTF and decided to dig everything deeper than an inch. If the sound was good and it was deep I dug it up. Of course I looked at some of the crazy numbers displayed like 20-41, 9-49 and the ones that kept jumping around. Well I ended up digging a lot of aluminum can pieces, pull tabs, shotgun shell ends, a weird looking lead disk, 5 wheats (1911, 34, 38, 41, and 55D) and other junk. I'll let you all know if I find something else good.

Good luck at your sites,

Kenny

That Lead Disk is a weight that was sewn into the bottom lining in dresses back in the old days to keep them flat and wind from blowing them up.

Never was too good at math! Wow 109 years old. Thanks for the correction!

I never doubted your math...of course I read through the entire post and wondered why you never mentioned the 1912 dime. :bouncy:

Congrats on the finds and thanks for the story.

Barber's are always a GREAT find !

Great job by the way! I have yet to pull any silver. Although I have found some war nickels. It will happen just got to keep the coil to the soil and my butt out of the chair.
