9th shield nickel this season!!!!!

yesterday Jim and I went to an elementary school, built in the 50's....I was digging clad and pulltabs hoping for a piece of jewelry. No go on the jewelry but I did get $5.71 in modern coins in one hour, got a 1948 silver rosie, and 2 wheats.

On the way home we stopped at a field I pounded pretty hard this spring, was hoping there might be something I missed, about the 3rd target I came across was a solid 12-12 and it was 2" deep, out popped my 9th shield nickel for this season, it is a no date, but it has to be 1866 or 1867 because it has rays.....not long after I got the worlds crustiest indian...lol, takes me to 166 injuns this yr.

and yet them shield nickles still elude me. he he great job that's the 1st 1 iv seen with rays on it pretty sweet :twodetecting:

my area is not that old at all, I am in NW Ohio, my town was EST in 1850's I do a LOT of old map research

Super finds as usual; but I know you work for them too !!
Those shield nickels are a beautiful design; too bad the metal they're made of is so unstable in the ground.

Very nice Terry! If I remember that is the most Shields you found in a year...at least with the E-Trac. Thanks for the pictures.
