A Bird In Flight

The days are getting shorter so I am detecting until dark and then some given weather conditions

I found this metal "eagle" in flight in the dark and decided to view it before considering it trash

I'm glad I did!

What do you suppose it was used for?

How large is it?

4 inches from tip to middle of wing, but wing area seems to be missing a section
And 2 to 3 inches up and down from shortest to longest distance

It is metal and not bronze but although I see rust it is not rusted through

A possibility is that it is a hood ornament. They were chrome plated and would rust. It is about the right size.
