A few finds from last Saturday. Part:1.

Here is a few finds I got on Saturday when I went out. I stopped by a Park that Tim and I have worked and still found a few Keepers. I'm sure there is more for the taking still but it may take some time to locate them. One of the finds was in one of Tim's Plugs which I couldn't believe. It read like a Can and was Deep! I opened the Plug just to remove whatever he had left before but couldn't find it. I figured it had to be a Can but nothing. Every time I put the Probe in the Hole, it sang out. I pulled more dirt out and finally seen something Silver fall back into the hole. I looked down into the hole and seen a Coin I thought. I reached in and pulled it out and found myself holding a Silver Washington Quarter, which was a Good 10"+ Deep. The only thing I can figure out is that Tim thought it was a Super Deep Can like it was reading and gave up on it or there was another Coin in the hole and he didn't rescan the hole. What ever the reason, I scored myself a Silver Quarter.:bouncy: By the time I left this Park, I had the Silver Quarter, 2 Merc's, a Canadian Large Cent, 2 Indian Heads, and 15 Wheats.

I then stopped by a Fairgrounds that I have pulled lots of Silver from in the past. Tim had told me that a friend of ours, Dan, had stopped there and got a Silver Quarter and 2 Merc's recently but he really had to work for them. I figured he had to have found them out in the Ball Diamond Area so I stopped to see if there were any Plugs visible. I started out detecting and was picking up the Normal Clad, since this Fairgrounds has Old Coins towards the surface, so if you pass up the New Coins, your possibly passing up Keepers. I started to see a few Plugs so I knew I was in the right area. I got over by my Van, along a gravel road that I and Rick(ND) had detected before (somehow we missed this Keeper last time) and got another Shallow Hit and figured another Clad Coin. I dug it and at only about 2" Deep, I seen a Silver Quarter staring back at me dated 1937-d. I was shocked to say the least! I continued detecting and tried another area where I have been finding a few Keepers recently and found 2 Wheats and an Indian Head. I hunted a bit longer and called it a day.

So this was a shorter than normal hunt this last weekend. I am hoping to detect all 3 days coming up this weekend but we will have to see. So now onto what the finds were.

I found only 4 Silver this time around but that's ok with me. I got 2 Washington Quarters dated 1937-d and 1945. I also found 2 Mercury Dimes dated 1944-d and 1945-d. The Canadian Large Cent was found in an area that Tim worked well but was more like a Shallow Target which why it was passed up. I dug it just because it was a curious Signal. It was giving me a 27 on Digital but only showed about 3-4" Deep, so I figured it was either a Screw Cap or possibly a Shallow Wheatie or Newer Penny. Glad I dug it though! It is in bad shape but if I Brass Brush it more it should turn out better and without any Green Crud on it. It is dated 1917. I found 3 Indian Heads this time out and all 3 are not the prettiest Coins but hey, at least I saved them from total annihilation. They are dated 1888,1898, and 1905. For Wheat Pennies, I dug 17 of them. They are dated 17,(2)19,2?-d,34-d,35-s,36,40-d,41-d,42-d,44-d,46,46-d,48-d,51,53-d, and 57-d. That does it for this time and hope everyone gets at least some free time during the Labor Day Weekend to do a little detecting. Good Luck and HH to you all and look forward in seeing some nice finds posted next week. [attachment 103028 DirtySilver.jpg][attachment 103037 CleanedSilver.jpg][attachment 103029 DirtyCanadianLargeCentampIndians.jpg][attachment 103038 CleanedCanadianLargeCentampIndians.jpg][attachment 103031 DirtyWheats.jpg][attachment 103043 CleanedWheats.jpg]

Not much but always nice to post the Misc. Finds made during the hunt. I found some kind of a Screw Top Item that maybe went to an Old Lamp or something:shrug:, a Junk Ring, an Older Tube of Lipstick, and a Religious Pendant. The Toy Gun was actually found the weekend before, I just forgot that I had it in the back of the Van at the time. Good Luck and HH this weekend hunters and look forward in the finds you make and them being posted here on Findmall.[attachment 103045 DirtyMisc..jpg][attachment 103047 CleanedMisc..jpg]

Hope you find more of them Goodies you have recently been recovering from your area Parks. I think there's going to be some very nice finds made during this Holiday Weekend and I can't wait to see who gets what. Good Luck and HH to you Bryce and thanks for the reply.:yo:

The finds are starting to get tougher to make but there is still plenty of sites to find and try out yet. Hope your getting out and getting some Keepers yourself. Good Luck and HH.

BTW...which coil were you using? I'm getting the 11" Pro coil this weekend to put on my SE. Maybe I'll be able to squeeze a few more silvers out of my old hunting grounds.

Once again...Awesome finds. You never disappoint me!

Charles

It's a great Coil! Your going to love it! I'll reply more about it later after work. Got to get going. Until then Charles, Good Luck and HH!:detecting:

I use Iron Mask -10 in Conduct Mode with a Sensitivity Setting of 22 Semi-Auto unless there is Electrical Interference and also use the Digital Display. Good Luck and HH.

At first you may realize that some of the Targets seem to be Bigger and a lot Louder than normal and you will have to Pinpoint some of the Bigger Targets to see just how Big the Target really is and how Deep it is. I have been finding Pennies down in the 10"+ Mark with the Pro Coil, and this is in Dry Ground! This Coil is well balanced and is a breeze to swing all day, unless of course your working something other than Lawn like Bushy Sites or where there is Twigs and the such, then the Coil tends to get caught up on them. Some of the Deeper Keepers will also give a bit of a Scratchy Signal (not as Clear) and some Coins that I have been finding thus far have read as high as 31 on Digital, which should be something like a Rusty Bolt, Nut, or Screw. The Pinpointing on this Coil that I have seen so far seems to be just in front of the Lower Shaft, which makes it about Middle of the Coil. So I hope some of this may help you out when you receive the New Pro Coil. It takes more than 1 outing to get use to it but when you realize what it is telling you on some of them Deep Targets, I think you may replace the Stock Coil that came with the Explorer like I have. Good Luck and HH.
