A few keepers from this morning

Got out this morning for a couple of hours and was lucky to snag a few more oldies before the season ends. First good find was the 1910-D Barber and 1923 Mercury dimes out of the same hole at about 8". They were surrounded by so much trash that I couldn't use pin point mode. Had to zero in strictly on the high pitch sound. About 10 feet away I got a decent signal I hoped would be an Indian head cent and sure enough, it was an 1896. In the same hole as the Indian head cent was the 1905 V-nickel. About 15 minutes later and no more than 15 feet from where I dug the other 4 coins, I dug the bent 1944 Mercury dime. Also found an old school bus token, 3 wheat cents and the nice gold gilt Naval button. Was nice to get 3 silvers in one hunt, that doesn't happen too often these days. I'll hit the same spot tomorrow (going to be cold, about 30 degrees when I head out) but this might be the last week so have to get in all I can.

also from up state and did some detecting at mt morris today with husband and friend
they found 7 large cents and lots buttons and a bust and harp
i found a wheat back! but two weeks ago i found a 1907 barber half
but it was a beautiful day and we will go out again tomorrow and until the ground freezes
congrats on the amazin finds and keep warm
regards, banditicey

me from about a decade ago??? I remember you... Scary thing is you were finding super awesome finds back then too... I can only imagine the collection you've racked up since then... Me, I haven't been detecting seriously for about 5 years now... Got bit by the bug again late in the season, so hope to get back in the swing of things again... Getting pretty cold here as well, so will have to hunker down until Spring... Cheers, V-man

We had some good times on the old forums. You, me, DaveZ, Charles (UpstateNY). Remember when people used to make fun of our Minelab "Ski poles " ??? Best move I ever made switching from White's to Minelab. Work, family and bad back limit me to about 5-6 hours hunting a week. Mainly just park hunting now. Don't have anyone to hunt with anymore and I hate to head into the woods by myself to hit the cellar holes. Maybe next year we can get together for some detecting. I'm over your way 4 or 5 times over the Summer.Glad to see your'e back. I think I still have some old photos of you on my old PC. I'll have to dig them up !!! Keep in touch...

when posting with the EXPLORER... I guess when I think about it, I was one of those guys who originally bought and detected with the Minelab EXPLORER... Sure was fun finding all those neat coins and posting them back then... I'm sure it made a few people scratch their heads about the new metal detector on the block... Glad you're still swinging away when you can... AND, by all means, next time you're up over this way, let me know.... We'll go tear up a place or two. Always loved seeing your finds.... Cheers, V-man
