This is a pic of how it was attached to the soldier.

I know, I know... Prepare yourself...

What you have there is an artifact found in the wilds of Alaska... That's a clue... Give up? Ok, this is in fact our very own Vernon's bellybutton ring... It's true! He lost it back in Alaska, just before his move down South... It's a well known fact that, as a right of passage, a member of the Cross Clan of Alaska, upon turning 20 years old, has to go out into the wild, hunt and kill a full grown grizzly with their bare hands, and use one of the bears claw to pierce the naval. Lucky for Vern, he has an outie, which surly made it easier. Upon returning home, with claw still firmly impaling the navel, Vernon would have proceeded to melt down a hand full of trinkets he had metal detected as a youth and fashioned what you see there. After wearing the claw for exactly 3 weeks, he would then replace the claw with the ring he crafted. It was then used for multiple purposes... Mainly to attract a suitable mate, but was also used to hang a loin cloth, or when metal detecting, a place to hang your pin-pointer.

So there you have it, mystery solved!!!! Don't you feel better now??? You can now rest your weary head upon your pillow at night knowing what exactly that is... Although, the visual it creates will surly produce disturbing dreams.... Nighty, nite!!! Cheers, V-man
