A misconception posted concerning the E-Trac....

Quote; To find the really deep and old stuff you will have to download specialized programs that address issues of your soil conditions, etc.
I have never downloaded any program or used any type "specialized program" for my E-Trac and have found a lot of nice older and often very deep coins.I have never even put the cd that came with my E-Trac in my PC.
The E-Trac is so much easier to get exceptional results out of the box compared to its nearest competitors that will remain nameless for sake of peace on this forum lol.
It always amazes me how anyone can form a solid opinion about a machine comparison without having used either machine much less both.
being compared.I realize we can get a lot of info from other users posting on the forums but that is nothing like first hand experience to base an opinion on.
I have no desire to run any other top end machines down but rather to point out the superiority of the E-Trac for my sites and methods of stock piling old coins and relics.
I guess what I am trying to say is if you have not tried it do not knock it based solely on what others have proclaimed,Ray.

Ray, if I found 1/10 th of what you do I would be jumping for joy. So when you tell us something I listen. There are several others at your ability level and (500 wheats and a boat load of silver) I always read their posts as well. Depth rarely seems to be the issue, target separation, iron masking, site location, all seem to me to be more important with ET as it gets fantastic depth right out of the box. Thanks for all your suggestions, Terry in San Diego.

I'm with Ray on this one----I have never downloaded any specialized program in my life.----MAN---So THAT'S why we aren't getting those deep, tough coins!!!----What about the Explorer boys next door??---They been down loading all those specialized programs to get all those fabulous finds they've been makeing??----Sh--, they don't even have that capability, nor do they need it.----Somebody obviously doesn't know MUCH about Minelabs.------Your neighborhood "trouble maker", Del

i never downloaded a program and have found deep coins. if you look at the other top end machine that's supposed to equal to the etrac most of there post are about how too fix or run the machine. wear as the etrac posts are mostly story's and pictures of great finds. I LOVE MY ETRAC

I use Andy's coin program. I found I like the Tone long feature. I wouldn't have tried it, probably, had I not had it set up that way from a downloaded program.

The volume of finds has as much to do with where you live (were their settlers there in the early 1800s, or was it 1890 before your state was admitted to the union?), how much research you've done, your ability to adjust the machine, etc., rather than a specific program that's all things to all people. jim

I carry some of those PH strips with me,a small bowl and some water!
I dig a little soil, mix it with some water and put a PH strip in it to test the soil.
This way i know where to set my detector for that spot!
Really,i am just kidding,i just wanted to get in on the fun
I have never downloaded the CD either. The E Trac is a great machine.
A big part of making good finds is research and location,The other part is experience on finding
coins hidden in trash.

Yikes! You guys are scaring me.I am researching the e-trac to purchase in the next 2 months but is there some overkill with all the stuff on the e-trac?

That is the point I was making. It is quite easy to learn and the factory preset programs are deadly on old coins and will pull them out of the heavy trash so well it has to be experienced first hand to even comprehend.
In a previous post it was compared to the V3 as being equally complicated and having a similar learning curve to gain success with it but I have used both and the E-Trac is much easier to become proficient with.

I'm kind of a tech head I guess, I downloaded every pattern on the Internet and downloaded them to my machine. All of that was fun and all but I just use the standard out of the box coins program that I have modified myself without using any of the computer features. Seems to work very well with out all the nerd knobs.

Well, The Etrac has that capability if you want to do all that "downloading".----I doubt that many hunters actually "utilize" it.-----Guess I oughta do a "survey" & find out.----Naw, everybody's probably gettin sick of all my stinkin surveys!!! :lmfao: --------Del

I hate to say this because I like the "Option" of being able to store a program and also to send it to someone if needed. That is the only feature I consider a little overated as a selling point.

All the other options are just different tools in a toolbox. Some settings you use once then maybe don't for a long time. Others are like the pliers or hammers...you use them as needed. Kinda like the difference between a FULL Snap-On mechanics set AND a smaller Walmart set.

The availability of the tools along with the iron separation makes for a very MEAN machine!!!

Ooops, I guess I screwed up by downloading and installing every program I could get my hands on when I first got the Trac.....funny thing is, I tried them all....once, and now I strictly use the stock coin program.....did I waste my time????? Jeeze

I too have never used the CD. The etrac is super simple. I get so tired of people saying how hard it is, or has a steep learning curve, that is so far from the truth!

Day one when I got my etrac, took it out of the box, but it in coin mode, went to a yard I had hunted already with my xterra70 and was able to pull a 7-8" deep barber dime that had a nail in the same hole, silver war nickel and 2 or 3 wheats.........THE FIRST DAY I USED IT!!!!!!! yes the etrac is THAT EASY TO USE :clapping:

Downloaded programs may work for the uploader on HIS sites but are only a basis to work on in YOUR ground as to get best results you need to taylor them anyway IMOP

The exchange program is nothing more than a way to share discrimination patterns. Nothing more. You can not "create" patterns or modes using the program.

I like it because i can backup my programs and modes to a file.

Two people both with ETracs hunting in the same place/soil. Will setup and run what they like. More than likely different.

I don't use the Minelab patterns/Modes. I made my own patterns each with there own settings. Two modes for the beach and two for the park.
