A nice morning hunt

Have been eyeballing an abandoned house directly across the river from where I work for close to ten years now. Decided today to stop and hit the front yard, I didnt have any hopes of finding much as this place is on a busy road and figured it had to have been hunted before. Took the V with the stock coil. First signal was a wheat, then another and another. Guess I was wrong about being hunted. After a couple of hours I got 12 wheaties, 2 silver rosies and a silver war nickle. One of the wheats and the nickle were back to back in the hole. Also found quite a bit of trash, but not as much as one might think since it hasn't been used for so long. I tried the back yard and it was full of trash, nails I think, so I'll go back with the 5.75 and see what I can pull out of there.
A few of these wheats were iffy signals, which was surprising. Not exactly sure what made me want to dig, but glad I did. They also came out of the ground looking almost like brass so maybe there was something about the soil in that area that was causing the signal to be iffy.
Anyway, dig those iffy signals sometimes, and don't always think that someplace you pass by all the time has been hunted. Every once in a while you get a nice surprise.
HH and good luck!

Awesome hunt! The V is starting to produce for you more and more..and finally it wasn't just wheats!

I can put up a pic later, just got home and need to leave again. Went back for a few after lunch, took the 5.75. Found another silver war nickel, 1935 tax token, steel penny(really have to squint and use your imagination to see Lincoln, but he's there), a little bitty bus fare token and another wheat. Tried the back yard for about 10 minutes. Theres coins in there, but man it's going to be work getting them out with whatever is in the ground back there.

Nice hunt and the area sounds promising. As to "iffy" signals I really subscribe to " if in doubt, dig it out" I've had quite a few nice surprises from those.

Sounds like you have a honney hole their.

Man you did real well. Nice to see you are get the hang of that V. I really love mine. Went out this week to an old house place and found a buffalo nickle and a wheaty penny.

Thanks Mike,
I think this house is probably late 40s, early 50s. Probably not much chance of a buffalo, mercs would have been nice, but I like silver rosies too!

Bill, I really don't know the exact time frame of the house place I am hunting. What got me started looking there was I found a 1944 merc laying on top of the ground one day when I was up there messing around! I figure that those buffalo's were carried in change well up into the 40's, if not the 50's,

Very nice hunt, love the tree shape in the token!

Iffy signals really do pay off.
