A perfect nickel signal but not a nickel!

Went back to the beach where I found the ID bracelet 3 years ago and returned it to the owner that lost it 52 years ago.
Well I was getting clad a wheat penny and the tide was wrong high.
As I worked my way back to my parking spot I had a perfect 12 on my Nox so I dug then I saw a nice chain and when I pulled it out there was a gold cat hanging from the chain well the chain is 925 not sure if the cat is gold I’ll have to test it...

Years ago, someone told me, if you are not digging nickels, you are not digging gold. On my 600, nickels usually jump between 12-13. Pull tabs 13-14. I have yet to dig a gold ring at 13 !!!!

But here's another funny. Waaaay back when I first started and just had a beep & dig detector, guys online said to 'thumb' the discrimination knob. I had read to walk the line from the parking lot to the bleachers. My machine had a 'coin check' button. I pressed it and signal disappeared, not a penny or dime or quarter. Now try 'thumbing' the discrimination knob. On my machine, 7 were coins and 5-6 were pull tabs and nickels were lower. I moved the knob below 5 and signals dropped out. I dug the target and my very first gold ring appeared. It was a pretty big mens signet ring but no initials, weird' There was also a nickel close by after rechecking the hole. Never sell your first gold ring. I was only detecting for 3 weeks, self taught with a lot of reading. Addicted ever since for the last 20 years !!!!

Just never know !!!
