I love this forum - WHY...
Because I make a $$ offer for someone to help me out with some practical E-Trac training, and I get a response from TonyC (who happens to live quite close by) who has been hunting for over 25 years - and now has 2 E-Trac's in his arsenal. Tony agrees to meet me but will not accept the $$...He spends about 30 minutes setting me up and off we go to a well hunted farm where he knows the owner. The location was good for training as it's loaded with aluminum and other junk from the hundreds of years of farming and the land has been recently turned.
About 30 minutes into the hunt - i get an interesting 13/14-44/45 signal loud and clear at about 8" - a couple of scoops with my new Lesche Model 80 Mr T long handle digger and the target is out of the hole - less than 15 seconds later (with the trusty X-1 probe) to my surprise I'm holding a dime sized coin i had never seen...a little bit of spit - it's an 1880 Canadian dime in perfect condition...WOW - now we're talking...add in a very old buckle and a military rivet along with some junk and the 4 hours were totally amazing. That E-Trac cuts through garbage and really goes deep - i was getting solid signals and digging tiny brass items at more than 10". When I get a macro camera working i will post a picture of the items.
PS - we compared target sounds of both machines which were set up EXACTLY the same - mine with the stock headphones and Tony's with his Killer B's - all I can say is I am ordering new headphones today - i STRONGLY suggest all E-Trac owners consider doing the same thing - the difference is material - no question about it...
Thank you TonyC for the great day - and hopefully many, many more fun and interesting hunts...YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!!!!
