A request to Tekenetics and FT re: the G2

Hey guys... this is just my opinion. Some others may feel differently but I really like that the T2 is green instead of black like so many other detectors.

I hope you are able to produce the G2 in green also... if not black will be fine... just PLEASE... no camo.

I have been toying with buying a GBSE but I think I am going to wait and see what the G2 brings to the table. You guys make some good stuff!

Julien

Hey Julien----I LUV my "Bubba"!!! (camo 75 LTD).---Just teasing you (in a way)! ----You are the reason I named my camo detector that in the first place (when quite awhile ago, you called it a "Bubba" detector) ----My wife & I each have one & their names are "Bubba 1 & Bubba 2"! :)----Think they are MIGHTY cool lookin & most importantly, perform very well. ------Del

Well, in that case... I stand corrected! (I have one too)

I am with you on the color. The shade of green of the T2 is appealing to me and I am sort of tired of a lot of black detectors. That said, I like the brushed aluminum appearance of my Omega and the other 'Greek' model from teknetics.

The G2 photos that have been out had it in the brushed aluminum package. i favor that to black. Like you, and while I don't mind a 'camo' appearance generally, I know that in the eyes of some archaeologists and others they look upon the camo finish as a reflection on metal detectorists as been sneaky looters.

I find the Omega quite comfortable and believe the G2 packaging will appeal to many. I am ready for one to get in my hands, to be sure!

Monte----You (and everyone) are entitled to their opinion---but I don't know why anyone would "look" or "consider" a person that's useing a camo unit to be anymore of a "looter" than they would anyone else uesing ANY other color of detector.----If they are going to think "that way"--they are going to think that way--regardless!-----Trying to discourage the use of camo units, are ya?? ------Del

How sneaky is a camo detector when the person using it is twice as tall, several times wider and wearing a white t-shirt?

"See that guy over there, walking around swinging his arm? What's he doing? He doesn't appear to be holding anything."

"He must be using on of them INVISIBLE metal detectors."

In years past I have had "camo" detectors, such as the D-Tex RS models. I have, and do, also own "camo" clothing which I select to wear mainly during certain hunting seasons. I could have expanded, which I have been known to do  at times, but I just wanted to state that I agreed with Julien in general. Heck, I wouldn't mind a detector in "Hunter Orange" sometimes as I can't tell you how often I set my detector down out is a sagebrush-choked ghost towns to go look at a buddies find, then try to find the spot where I had a good signal and left my detector. Heck, I think (know) that a "camo dressed detector" would make it even tougher to locate!!

As for the bureaucratic types, I was commenting from experience. In years past I have been contracted to give a 'private' seminar on metal detectors/metal detecting to government folks, mainly archaeologists, who want to learn how to use decent and practical equipment without trying to blend into a group of hobbyists and disclose their intentions. In conversations with several of them, after picking up some of their comments when reviewing product literature and such, they have expressed their opinion that a camouflaged metal detector would be a likely choice by someone intent on looting an historic site.

Some, who have had experience in years past working in the E and SE :usaflag: commented that they often encountered "hobbyists" or "relic hunters" or "scavengers" or "looters" (ALL those terms were used) dressed mainly in camouflage to hide their actions, and some had used tape and other material to "camo" their detectors as well.

It wasn't ME who was suggesting that anyone with a "camo" detector or dressed as if on a stealth approach mission were doing anything criminal, I was simply passing along comments from experiences I've had with government types. You now, now that I think of it some more, I really DO wish I could get a Hunter Orange detector for the desert and wooded areas I frequently hunt. :detecting:

However, my main point was that I am also a bit tired of the 'Black' detectors that everyone seemed to shift to years ago. Okay, not Garrett or Tesoro, but Fisher went that way then White's and some others have come-and-gone that also opted for basic black. The T[sup]2[/sup] Green and brushed aluminum of the 'ADGO' series, to me, are very appealing. It's not as if I don't or wouldn't like anyone who chose to own a camo detector, it's simply my preference not to, at least when I get out of an urban setting.

Well---I've said it before & I'll say it again!----I want (demand) a purple detector--and it doesn't even matter if it doesn't have black dots (polka dots) on it!!!!---Forget it doesn't work--I'm goin for the high fashion!!! :crylol: :bouncy: ----Gotta get some humor in here!----Keep posting Monte, everyone values your wisdom & appreciates your posts.--------Del---P.S. Come to think of it, bright orange would be a neat color! :)

I'm just trying to have some fun with you guys, I don't mind the camo detectors, I just don't understand the advantage of it.
I like the green of the T-2 as well. I own 2 of them.

There have been some posts lately about black coils getting too hot while being transported/left in a vehicle.

As for me... the whole "bubba" thing is just not for me. I absolutely cringe when I hear someone say "get 'er done..." I can't tell you how that make's my skin crawl... but different strokes as they say.

As far as looting a historical site... i'd like a shot at it. Is Ft. Knox a historical site??

J

Bright orange might keep us from getting shot too...

J

Hey Julien-----Let's get er-get er-ahhhh, GET ER loaded in the car & go huntin!!!---That don't make your skin crawl, does it?? ------Del

Nope, nothing you do could bother me... it's the Larry character. You wouldn't believe how it is around here. There is always some used car salesman on TV doing a cheap imitation... I know at least 4 Bubbas.

...ehhhh

Julien

I enjoyed your post too. You always amaze me with your absolute knowledge of detectors and detecting.
