laying on top of the ground and still wasn't a high quarter squeal. bet most coils will sound off too under those conditions
 
I'd say most DD coils would hit it as DD coils the waves go down at an angle and is picked up by the other side hence they get under the cap
 
Actually most machines with DD coils will hit the rusty cap in the first place except for the Minelab FBS machines :) .
 
I was able to tuck quarter up under and inside crown cap and still get a hit while having the caps disced out in factory coins mode with the Tornado coil . The Tornado is wider than it is long and may be part of why I always did so well with it on deep on edge coins as well as coins under disced out targets. I believe some used to call this the wrap around effect and often happened with the early Explorers with the larger WOT coils ....
