Last year I buried 3 of my best friends - each died about 3 months apart. I hope & pray that this year will be better, but...
late last year I posted a blog warning people about the fragility of the Garrett AT Pros & the AT Gold detectors.
I had just leant my wife's detector on the front of my 4WD. I shut the car door & the detector fell onto the ground & snapped the head/control box off the stem - it was held on by 2 small screws & screwed into 2 flimsy mounting brackets.
The bottom line - I stuffed the wife's detector.
Fast forward to 2014. I answered a knock on the door. A friend wanted to borrow my AT Gold for the weekend.
OK, I said but be careful. I told him the story of my wife's detector.
You guessed it. Today I went & picked up the 2 pieces of my AT Gold.
Once again. Be careful with the AT series of detectors - don't drop, hit or dump them - don't even pass wind. They have a VERY WEAK design feature.
