I've never really noticed the ID of an object changing much with more sensitivity,
but of course you can get more falsing on some grounds.
I was assuming being he didn't have it cranked too high, most were real signals
instead of falsing.
I always run mine pretty hot, but I have pretty mild soil, and I'm used to running it
that way.
I can tell the false signals from the actual targets. The real targets repeat, but
the false chatter won't. I would think it could be possible to get different ID's
if the coil comes from different angles to the tab, or varying the height.
IE: if it was kind of on it's side, and looked thin from one angle, but pretty
wide from the other.
I've had 2-3 targets that I never could find. And you could pinpoint them just as sure
as the world.. Dig, dig, dig, and not find it. And it would still pinpoint in the
same place after digging. Had one in the backyard like that one time.
Kept IDing as a quarter.. Never could find it. Being it pinpointed, I know
something metallic was there. But it might have been a clump of dirty rust or sumtin..
Hard to say.. But that doesn't happen too often. Most times, if I can pinpoint it,
it comes up..

My soil up at my place in OK is real mild overall. I can run most all of my coils
nearly full blast with little falsing at all. Even the 9x12.. It varies here in Houston.
Some is good, some I have to back it down a hair. Seems to also depend how
much moisture is in the ground too. I always run it as hot as I can according to
the ground. You will know if you need to back it down.. The chatter will start to
get to be too much. I try to keep it right on the edge of wanting to chatter
if I want max depth.
Unlike many, I start nearly full blast, and go backwards if needed.. Up in OK, I can
usually run it at 7-8. I can usually run the sniper that hot almost anywhere.
Just depends on the ground, how hot the electrical field is in the area, etc..
Sometimes being near power lines, etc can cause chatter if you run too hot.
That may be one reason why I can run so hot up there. I'm out in the sticks away from
power lines, houses, etc.. And the ground seems pretty good.
Running hot is not for everyone.. I don't recommend it to beginners as it can be
frustrating if you can't tell the real signals from chatter. That takes a little practice
training the ear for it. But it can give you a bit more depth once you get the hang of it.
Course, not all places need max depth.. IE: tot lots, etc.. No real need unless you know
some are really sinking deep for some reason. But if I'm out hunting old property
for relics, old coins, I run as hot as I can stand it. I've seen plenty of deep targets
that would show up at 7-8, that would not make a peep with it set at 3-4-5..
It does make a difference when going deep.
