ACE 250 Finds an Old One!

My brother in law and I went hunting in an old fair grounds (1800's) and we were about to leave when he got a hit and dug up this 1830 Matron Head large cent! He was using his ACE 250 with the 9x12 coil! This is the best find either one of us has ever made! This is his first month in the hobby!

Wow now that's a great way to start off. Great find!!:detecting:

Very nice find

great find the ACE is a sweet detector  i really must try the big coil out on some oldies some day.

Thanks for all the peeks and kind words. That was an awesome day!:garrett:

we weren't founded until 1867 so it probably won't be that old. Nice find!! How is the balance and pinpointing of that 12 inch coil on the Ace?? Bob.

he said (My brother in law) it wa down about 4 inches. I had asked him:garrett: the same thing about pin pointing and he said it was ok. I want to get that 9x12 for my 1350.

here in OZ we have a saying that australia is the lucky country i would love to find something that old but we only have a 200 year history the oldest thing i have found was my 75 year old granny when she went missing

I'm gonna get one someday myself! Yall better pound that spot!

Zaxfire69 - That's right. It is the regular 9 x 12 coil that Garrett sells for it, I think he got it with his 250 on a package deal. It's not the accelerator coil. Uncle Willy, will that 9x12 coil for my 1350 get down 2-3 more inches? My brother in law (the one who got that coin) was using his 250 with the 9 x 12 Garrett coil. But, that coin was only down about 4 - 5 inches anyway. I think I would like to get that coil for my GTP and then hammer that field. I have pulled some silver out of that field and some Wheaties, if it's down below 5 inches in that old fair grounds it's either Wheaties or silver! We haven't pulled anything below 5 inches that was clad! The field is so big we are gonna have to make lanes with some string so we can hit it slow and methodical.:garrett:
